Design Details
 
The Aztec Calendar Silver Round celebrates the monumental Aztec Sun Stone, a masterpiece of pre-Columbian sculpture carved around the year 1500. Today, the original stone resides in the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, where it remains one of the most important artifacts of Mesoamerican history.
 
Weighing more than 24 tons and measuring nearly 12 feet in diameter, the original stone depicts the Aztec interpretation of cosmic cycles and timekeeping. The round faithfully recreates these intricate patterns in miniature form using precision minting technology.
