The release is also the 40th coin overall in the ATB program, which celebrates significant national parks, landmarks, and historic locations across the United States.

George Rogers Clark’s daring winter campaign in 1779 resulted in the capture of Fort Sackville in Vincennes, Indiana. Design Details

Located along the Wabash River in Vincennes, Indiana, George Rogers Clark National Historical Park commemorates the historic site of Fort Sackville. The location began as a French trading post in 1702 before falling under British control in 1766. Clark’s bold winter march across flooded plains and frozen terrain culminated in the successful siege of the fort in 1779, securing the region for American control.

The ATB series highlights historic locations like this through large-format silver coins that combine historical storytelling with exceptional mint craftsmanship.

Obverse

The obverse features the familiar left-facing portrait of George Washington, based on the classic design created by John Flanagan in 1932 for the Washington quarter. This enduring image appears on all America the Beautiful releases, connecting the series to the long tradition of United States coinage.

Reverse

The reverse design depicts frontiersmen under the command of George Rogers Clark advancing on British forces at Fort Sackville. The dramatic scene captures the intensity of Clark’s campaign and the determination of the American militia as they reclaimed the territory during the Revolutionary War.
