Item Description
The 2017 South Africa Silver Krugerrand 50th Anniversary Coin commemorates half a century of one of the world’s most influential bullion coin programs. First introduced in 1967 as a gold bullion coin, the Krugerrand became a global symbol of precious metals investment. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the South African Mint issued a special 1 oz .999 fine silver Krugerrand, marking the first year the iconic design was struck in silver for bullion collectors.
This commemorative release features the classic Krugerrand design elements along with a distinctive “50” privy mark, honoring five decades of bullion history. Containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the coin blends historical significance with modern investment-grade purity.
Each coin is presented in a protective capsule and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, reinforcing its collectible appeal. With a limited mintage of 1,000,000 coins, the 2017 Silver Krugerrand represents a milestone issue for both investors and numismatic enthusiasts.
Produced by the South African Mint, this anniversary release pays tribute to a coin that helped shape the global bullion market and remains one of the most recognizable precious metals products in the world.
