Item Description
The 2018 American Silver Eagle 1 oz Coin represents the 32nd annual release in the United States Mint’s flagship silver bullion program. Since its debut in 1986, the American Silver Eagle has become one of the most widely recognized and trusted silver bullion coins in the world, prized for its purity, government backing, and timeless American design.
Struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver, the Silver Eagle blends classic American artistry with investment-grade bullion content. Its global recognition and liquidity have made it a cornerstone holding for both collectors and precious metals investors.
The 2018 issue continues the long-standing design pairing of Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty obverse with the heraldic eagle reverse created by John Mercanti, a combination that defined the series from its launch in 1986 through 2021.

Design Details
The American Silver Eagle program was established under the Liberty Coin Act of 1985, signed into law by President Ronald Reagan. Production began the following year, launching what would become one of the most successful bullion coin programs in modern numismatic history.
From 1986 through 2021, the series featured the pairing of Walking Liberty on the obverse and the heraldic eagle reverse, creating one of the most recognizable combinations in American coin design.
Obverse
The obverse features Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design, originally introduced in 1916. Liberty is depicted walking toward the rising sun draped in the American flag, symbolizing freedom, hope, and the promise of a new day.
Reverse
The reverse displays the heraldic eagle design by John Mercanti, inspired by the Great Seal of the United States. The eagle stands behind a shield while holding an olive branch and arrows, with thirteen stars above the eagle representing the original American colonies.
