The Australian Silver Kangaroo coin has long been available from the Perth Mint, but was originally issued as a proof coin with .999 pure silver content. In 2016, the series was elevated to the position of an investment-grade bullion coin like the Kookaburra and Koala that preceded it. Subsequent coins introduced since the 2016 debut of the Silver Kangaroo, like the Emu, now also feature .9999 pure silver content.
