Obverse
 
The obverse features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Surrounding inscriptions include the year of issue, country of issue, metal purity, and weight, along with the inscription “Middle Earth.”
 
Reverse
 
The reverse presents a dramatic depiction of Boromir holding his shattered blade, referencing the legendary sword that once cut the One Ring from the hand of Sauron. The inscription “THE BLADE THAT CUT THE RING FROM SAURON’S HAND” appears within the design. Encircling the rim are the inscriptions “The Fellowship of the Ring” and “20th Anniversary.”
