The Tokelau Chronos Series returns in 2021 from the Pressburg Mint, Slovakia private mint continuing one of the longest-running modern silver programs issued for Tokelau. The 2021 release represents the seventh year of the Chronos Series overall, which originally debuted in 2015 and remains the oldest Tokelau collection produced by the mint.
 
Originally launched as silver medallions from 2015 through 2018, the Chronos Series transitioned in 2019 into a fully sovereign coin program. Since then, each issue has carried legal tender status in Tokelau, with a denomination assigned in New Zealand dollars—the official currency of Tokelau. The 2021 1 oz Tokelau Chronos Silver Coin continues this legacy with refined design elements and enhanced security features.

Design Details
 
Obverse
 
The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the british monarch shown in the fourth-generation portrait created by Ian Rank-Broadley for the Royal Mint in 1998. This iconic likeness has appeared across numerous Commonwealth coin programs and remains a defining element of Tokelau’s sovereign issues. The background incorporates a repeating infinity pattern, reinforcing the Chronos theme of time and continuity.
 
Reverse
 
The reverse presents a newly designed nautical clock motif for 2021, with ornate clock hands set to five minutes before midnight. Surrounding the central timepiece are maritime elements, including anchors and mermaids, symbolizing navigation, exploration, and the passage of time. The background again features an infinity pattern and includes a latent image security feature that shifts as the viewing angle changes.

All 2021 Tokelau Chronos Silver Coins offered in this release arrive in Brilliant Uncirculated condition directly from the mint. Compared to the prior year, the 2021 mintage is increased by 10,000 coins, while still maintaining strong collector appeal through its limited production, updated design elements, and advanced visual effects.
