The Australian Rectangular Dragon Series was introduced in 2018 by the Perth Mint, offering the first rectangular legal tender bullion coin issued by the mint. Since its debut, the series has become highly sought after by both investors and collectors and frequently sells out at the mint. A defining characteristic of the series is its annually changing reverse design.
The obverse of the 2022 Australian Rectangular Silver Dragon Coin features Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief at the age of 89. This sixth-generation definitive portrait depicts Her Majesty wearing the George IV State Diadem Crown.
The reverse showcases the 2022 depiction of the Chinese dragon. The serpent-like creature moves dynamically across the rectangular surface, with its flaming tail at the top and its body winding downward toward its head. One of the dragon’s claws reaches outward toward a traditional flaming pearl, symbolizing strength, wisdom, and prosperity.
