Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory situated at the southern tip of the Iberian Peninsula, bordered to the north by Spain. Its official currency is the Gibraltar Pound, which is pegged at par with Pound Sterling and circulates interchangeably within the territory. However, the Gibraltar Pound is legal tender only in Gibraltar and not in the United Kingdom.
 
Under its authority, Gibraltar has approved select mints to produce legal tender commemorative and bullion coinage. These bullion issues are typically struck in internationally recognized weights, such as one troy ounce of silver, designated as 1 oz Ag, with “Ag” derived from Argentum, the Latin word for silver.
 
This coin is produced by Scottsdale Mint as part of its Gibraltar bullion program and represents the second release in the Lady Justice series.

The 2022 Gibraltar Legal Tender coin program consists of four coins struck in two metals and finishes, honoring the universal concept of justice in both pure silver and gold.
 
The reverse design features a classical depiction of Lady Justice, blindfolded and holding a sword in her right hand and scales in her left. The Latin inscription Fides et Justitia accompanies the artwork. Also present are the Gibraltar Coat of Arms, along with inscriptions denoting weight, purity, metal content, and legal tender denomination.
