2024 - Niue - 2oz. - The Inquisition - Mankind's Mistakes Series - High Relief
The "Inquisition" coin was minted from two ounces of pure 999 silver. The first plan of the reverse shows a scene of brutal punishment of a man for heresy - through the torture of breaking a wheel.
He is located above a burning fire, and other torture tools appear around him - including a club with spikes and a hammer. In the background of the coin is a scene of women being executed - by burning them for their dissent.
On the coin - both in the foreground and in the background - we also see inquisitors - clergy - because the inquisition operated from the 13th to the 19th century as an investigative and judicial institution of the Catholic Church. Its aim was to search for, convert and punish heretics based on the provisions contained in council and synod documents and papal bulls.
The fire in the foreground of the coin was made with UV printing technology, and the club with 3D printing technology.
The obverse of the coin - under the lacquer seal, which instead of a stamp bears the issuer's emblem, there is a fragment of a medieval engraving.
