The Design
The Astronaut design is on the reverse. It consists of a frontal face close-up of the Astronaut wearing a complete suit. The helmet visor reflects the planet Earth, as seen from the Moon. Because of the coin’s high relief imprint, the Astronaut seems to be leaving the coin, as the design surpasses the coin’s edges.
The Earth's reflection and the Astronaut suit are colorful, contrasting with the Black Proof Finish, which darkens the coin’s surface.
The honeycomb pattern covers the reverse background. The series name, “REAL HERO,” and its symbol are engraved in one of its units, and the CG’s motto, “THE SKY IS NOT THE LIMIT,” is on the rim.
The upper part of the obverse showcases two astronauts and a satellite gravitating in space. The sentence “ONLY BRAVES ARE FREE” divides the surface. On the lower part of the coin, the effigy of King Charles III, replacing the beloved portrait of the former Queen Elizabeth II, is surrounded by the coin’s essential information.
