The infamous mutiny on the HMS Bounty unfolded on April 28, 1789, when Fletcher Christian and 25 other crew members seized control of the ship from Lieutenant William Bligh. After spending five months in Tahiti collecting breadfruit plants, the crew had become accustomed to the island's pleasant climate and lifestyle, making the return to strict naval discipline under Bligh's demanding leadership increasingly difficult to bear. 
The obverse side of 2025 Pitcairn Islands Silver Bounty Coins features a first-generation effigy of King Charles III. His Majesty is shown here in left-profile relief and is not wearing a crown. This particular effigy of Charles III was created by Jody Clark.
On the reverse side of 2025 1 oz Silver Bounty Coins, you’ll find an image of the HMS Bounty. Originally named the Bethia, the vessel was renamed once acquired by the Navy and represented a typical small merchant ship of its era, measuring only 91 feet in length.
