Centuries ago, mighty Royal Beasts stood guard at Hampton Court Palace, watching over Henry VIII and his third wife, Jane Seymour. Representing royal ancestry and asserting the monarch's power, The Royal Mint now celebrates the symbolism of the Royal Tudor Beasts in a popular bullion coin collection.
Given to Jane Seymour by Henry VIII to embody his third wife's legitimacy, the fierce Queen's Panther stands on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace as a heraldic supporter of Jane Seymour. The heraldic panther is depicted as a formidable creature with fiery breath, withstood only by the dragon. Differentiating from the Seymour Panther, the Queen's Panther holds the impaled Arms of Henry VIII that bears the Coat of Augmentation bestowed upon her.
