Item Description
The Avaritia (Greed) 5 oz Reverse Proof Silver Round represents the fourth release in the Seven Deadly Sins series within The Awakening program. Struck by the Scottsdale Mint, this remarkable round contains 5 troy ounces of .999 fine silver and features a stunning Reverse Proof finish, where frosted fields contrast sharply against deeply mirrored design elements.
The series draws artistic inspiration from the haunting visual storytelling of 17th-century artist Jacques Callot, whose work explored the complex relationship between morality, temptation, and human behavior. Each design in the series represents one of the **Seven Deadly Sins—pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath, and sloth—**interpreted through symbolic imagery that reflects enduring human struggles.
This release depicts Avaritia, the embodiment of greed. The design portrays an insatiable desire for wealth and possession, illustrating how the relentless pursuit of accumulation can overshadow purpose, restraint, and virtue.
With a strict mintage of only 2,000 rounds, each piece is individually laser-serialized and housed in a mint-exclusive capsule, reinforcing its collectible significance. The artwork for the series was created by former U.S. Mint coin designer Joel Iskowitz, blending philosophical depth with exceptional bullion craftsmanship.
Part of a seven-piece mini-series, these rounds form a cohesive narrative when collected together—exploring themes of morality, awareness, and human nature through powerful artistic expression.

Design Details
The series combines symbolic storytelling with intricate engraving, presenting a visual exploration of the moral concept of greed within a broader philosophical framework.
Obverse
The obverse features Avaritia, the personification of greed, depicted as a richly adorned woman surrounded by coins, jewelry, and precious metals. A toad, historically associated with earthly attachment and hoarding, rests nearby, while a demon guards a treasure chest, preventing wealth from circulating. The design carries the single inscription “AVARITIA.”
Reverse
The reverse design is shared across all rounds in the series. It features an all-seeing eye above a pyramid, surrounded by seven demons representing the Seven Deadly Sins. Inscriptions include “THE AWAKENING,” “ANNUIT COEPTIS,” and the metal specifications “.999 SILVER 5 TROY OZ.” The outer rim bears the phrase “YOU CAN’T WAKE A PERSON WHO IS PRETENDING TO BE ASLEEP.”
