Born into a humble farming family, Joan rose to prominence after claiming divine visions that urged her to support the French crown. Despite having no formal military training, she persuaded Charles VII to allow her to lead French forces. Her leadership played a pivotal role in lifting the siege of Orléans and helped pave the way for Charles VII’s coronation as king of France.
 
Captured in 1430 and later executed in 1431 after a controversial trial for heresy, Joan’s legacy endured through the centuries. In 1920, she was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Today, she is remembered worldwide as a symbol of courage, conviction, and national pride.
